THE OVERTHINKER

JOURNAL ENTRY #1
REFLECTION
MAY 17, 2026

I was talking with a good friend of mine the other day and the question about future plans came up and I had no immediate response. On the macro level I know what I want to do, but on the micro level I struggled.

Don’t get me wrong I know what I want, I just have a hard time reaching it. I am as what’s known as a daydreamer. Now as romantic in many cases it’s another word for being a procrastinator and in my case that’s just a symptom of a deeper issue I face, overthinking.

Daydreaming, overthinking, procrastination all have helped shield me from facing reality, and now that I sit here and ponder the question of my future plans I realize how held back I had been. It’s not all gloom though, through day dreaming I have learned to be comfortable with my thoughts, to question everything, playout ideas, create and visualize stories before executing them. The only problem that I started to face was that last part ‘executing them’. So I came up with a simple plan to start breaking away from my bad habits:

*Daydreamer (n.)

/ˈdeɪ.driː.mɚ/
a person who often thinks about doing something else or being somewhere else, instead of paying attention to what is happening where they are now:

1. MAKE THINGS
This one might sound easy for you but for me this means a mental warefare inorder to even pick what to make. So I will do the next easiest thing and follow tutorials. Dosen’t matter the subject or craft the idea is to make things and get in habit of just doing it without an internal civil war.

2. POST IT ONLINE
Learning to not worry about what others will say and think of what I made is another battle I will have to face but it is one that needs to be faced. I will be less worried about interactions or followers and I am more focused on building the confidence to trust in my decisions.

3. WRITE ABOUT IT
I’ve found that writing my thoughts, process and ideas out has helped me with gaining confidence. I love storytelling and now it’s time I put that love into action and write it out.

The overall goal here isn’t to grow in popularity, or make a profit but it’s for my sanity, creative energy, and my soul. I want that confidence to make it and post it. I also know that will come for me through repitition and practice. So time for me to start box breathing.

Here’s to just going for it!
